From 1998 to 2004 the “Kaiserpfalz“ was completely renovated and carefully restored. Today you may expect modern technology inside as well as multifaceted cultural offers, which you may discover in 1300 square meters of exhibition area und about 500 square meters of usable floor space.
The „Kaiserpfalz“ has also been declared a monument of national importance by the Bavarian ministry of education and cultural affairs due to its unique structure and its mural paintings.
RETROSPECT: 1989 the city of Forchheim buys the former castle. The extensive restorations are performed by the Bamberg architect’s office Bauernschmitt. Since 2004 the „Kaiserpfalz“ is again open to the public. Alongside a multitude of exhibitions, events and markets the vaulted cellar and the inner courtyard invite the public to celebrate in a unique setting.
