Restoration

From 1998 to 2004, the “Kaiserpfalz“ was completely renovated and carefully restored. Today, modern technology awaits you inside as well as a multifaceted cultural programme that you can discover in 1300 m² of exhibition space und about 500 m² of event space.

The „Kaiserpfalz“ has also been declared a monument of national importance by the Bavarian Ministry of Cultural due to its unique building fabric wall paintings.

REVIEW: In1989, the town of Forchheim acquires the former castle. The extensive renovation work was carried out by the Bamberg architectural firm Bauernschmitt. Since 2004, the „Kaiserpfalz“ has once again been open to the public. In addition to a variety of exhibitions, events and markets, the vaulted cellar and the inner courtyard invite visitors to celebrate in a very unique setting.
